Mor Karbasi was born in Jerusalem in 1986, of Hispano-Sephardic and Moroccan descent on her mother’s side and Persian on her father’s. Her career began strongly with her debut album, “The Beauty and the Sea” (2008), produced by Grammy winner Matt Howe. This work garnered widespread critical acclaim, with The Guardian hailing her as “one of the great divas of global music” and declaring the album “the album of the year.”
